I still think the whole concept of an 'Online Community Manager' is internally flawed. I think what we're talking about here is more of a subeditor than anything else. They have a capacity to moderate content and they commission new content based on the activity/requests of the community. The very word 'manager' sends ALL the wrong messages. They don't have control over the community; they facilitate content creation and maximise the value of the information disseminated throughout the community. We have to get over these notions of control and move more in to facilitation and advocacy.
